Dana was born in Santa Monica, California and moved to Tucson, Arizona almost 50 years ago. She started her 38 year journey in Senior Care as a Registered Nurse at Tucson Medical Center and University Medical Center in Cardio-Thoracic Intensive Care Unit Nursing, along with Surgical, Medical, Pediatric and Neonatal ICUs. Dana then migrated to Home Health to further the continuum of care and have the time to really teach and assess her clients for interventions and care.
She has been involved in the ILF/ALF Industry since 1993 as a Home Health provider of both Assisted Care programming and Skilled Nursing Care and loves the Life Engagement opportunities provided for Seniors in these communities. Dana managed 80 locations in 8 states for Integrated Health Services as the Vice President of the West Division. She has held CEO, COO and many Regional and National Vice President Nursing positions within the Home Health industry. She ran a re-engineering effort with Deloitte in preparation for the country’s change in Medicare Reimbursement to PPS in 1998-1999 to implement to 450 agencies. She has been a Franchisor in the Private Duty Non-Medical and Skilled Home Health space as well as, always committed to excellence in Senior Care.
Dana has won many Awards during her career; March of Dimes Nurse of the Year in Leadership in 2005, Business Woman of the Year – National Association of Women Business Owners – Tucson Chapter 2006 and again in 2008, as well as The National Business Woman of the Year – from NAWBO in partnership with Wachovia Bank in 2008. Better Business Ethics Torch Award, Pay Equity Crystal Award, Woman of Influence Award – Southern Arizona, INC 5000 Business Award, Wells Fargo Copper Cactus Awards (Winner Business Growth $3-15 million Revenue in 2003, and Finalist in Best Place to Work and Community Service multiple times). She was a highly rated speaker on Senior Care issues at the Decision Health Conference annually for 8 years. She is considered a National Expert in this field.
On a personal note, Dana is excited about being a Grandma, or “Nonie”. She has 2 Grandsons, ages 2 and 5 and a Granddaughter 3 weeks old, who live in Tucson half of the year. Her son-in-law plays for the NFL, so they live elsewhere in NFL Season, so she is a rabid Football Fan! Her two sons live in Southern California and her middle son is married with a 17 month old daughter. She spends as much time as she can with her 3 children and grandchildren.
Dana has been a University of Arizona Sports Fan since she moved here in the late 60s. She has always said, her “heart bleeds red and blue for the Wildcats”! We will have some spirited game watching during Football and Basketball season! She has attended both Northern Arizona University and the University of Arizona in her academic career.
